How to Submit a Manual/Test Order for Your Shopify Store

Submitting a manual or test order is a recommended step when integrating your Shopify store with ODF. This ensures orders sync correctly, products display the correct ODF assigned SKUs, and discounts or third-party apps work as expected. You have two main options for creating test/manual orders in Shopify:

Option 1: Create a Draft Order in Shopify Admin

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin and navigate to Orders.

  2. Click Create draft order.

  3. Add all of the ODF Products from your listings

  4. Add a customer or create a new customer profile.

  5. Apply any discount codes for product costs or shipping, if you'd like, so you don’t have to spend your money for this test order.

  6. Mark the draft as Paid but do not fulfill the order.

    • ODF requires orders to be Paid and Unfulfilled to sync properly.

Option 2: Submit an Order Through Your Storefront

  1. Visit your Shopify or website storefront and place an order like a regular customer.

  2. Use any discount codes you want to test, including codes that affect:

    • Product costs

    • Shipping costs

  3. Complete checkout using a test customer email.

  4. The order will need to appear in Shopify as Paid and Unfulfilled.

    • This ensures ODF can receive the order for testing.

    • If this order shows as Fulfilled, please manually adjust it:

      1. Select the order from the Orders view.

      2. Click the checkbox next to the order.

      3. Click the "Mark As" dropdown and select Unfulfilled.

Step 3: Confirm Order Receipt with ODF

  1. After submitting a test/manual order, contact your Onboarding Representative or our Support Team.

  2. Provide the order details so we can confirm:

    • The order was received in our system.

    • The correct product quantities are reflected.

    • The ODF Assigned SKU is accurate.

    • No information appears encrypted or missing.

  3. Important: If you’ve recently added any new third-party apps, bundling apps, or customizations, we strongly encourage submitting a test order.

    • Occasionally, some apps can alter order information and cause syncing issues with ODF.

  4. If you would like this test order to be cancelled, please notify your Onboarding Representative or the applicable Support Agent when confirming the order.

WarningNote: If no notice to cancel the order is received, the order will be processed, shipped, and included on your weekly invoice.
