Over here at On Demand Fulfillment, we strive to simplify the label design process for our clients. Whether you opt for our in-house design team or choose to outsource your designs, we provide
label templates for all our products. This allows you to customize them to reflect your brand vision while providing an outline for the label requirements.
All label templates can be downloaded here:
Please note that any labels not created in-house for your brand are still required to be submitted to our proofing department
for compliance review and SKU assignment. Failure to complete these steps will cause delays in shipping your products without
approved labels or SKUs in our system.
LABEL DESIGN GUIDELINES
Just a couple quick notes about label design, we want to make this as fast and effortless as possible so that this will be approved by the FDA proofer the first time through review. So here are a few things to keep in mind:
Here are a few quick notes about label design to help ensure a smooth and efficient approval process with our proofing department first FDA review:
Focus Areas for Modification:
- You have the flexibility to incorporate their own artwork and utilize different design elements to create a unique appearance that aligns with your brand.
- You can also change the name of the product and the benefits/claims listed below but any benefits/claims do have to keep the asterisk (*) next to them so that they refer to the outlined FDA disclaimer box on the left of the label.
- When making claims on the label, it's important to use supporting or assisting words to avoid sounding like a guarantee or promise. A helpful guideline is to assess whether the claim could be interpreted as making a guarantee, or promise of a specific benefit or result. If this is the case, the claim should be revised to focus more on potential benefits of the product, rather than specific outcomes for the consumer.
Please carefully review each section of the image below to prevent any delays in label approvals.
The information and image outlines the sections of the label where your designer can make changes.
- BLUE: The location of this information within the label template needs to remain roughly the same as the templates.
Distributed By Section: This area needs to be filled out with your company info. It is REQUIRED to have 2 forms of contact meaning at least 2 of the following: Full Street Address, Active Phone #, or Email Address. If you would like to use a PO Box or just a City, State and Zip, then both a phone number and email must be included.
*Within the distributed by information we are no longer accepting websites as a form of contact.
Lower Left SKU: The area above the barcode must be updated with the Product SKU that we will provide. This SKU is unique and customized for your specific label and product. Labels will not be approved unless they include the custom Product SKU that we supply.Barcode: Label barcodes must be added to lower left and you can utilize an FNSKU or UPC barcode. If you don’t have either of these, you will need to generate a barcode based on the SKU that ODF provided you for this product. Full instructions on barcode creation can be found here or further down in this article. BARCODE CREATION.
- YELLOW: This section can be changed slightly with the wording, but the doses or overall meaning behind the usage directions typically need to stay the same. If you want to increase or decrease serving size you can, but the instructions and all the amounts per serving need to be updated accordingly so that the SUGGESTED USE section and Supplement Facts panel match. Please note there are limits on increasing dosages.
- RED: These sections cannot be changed or they will not be approved. Not all labels have them, but in the example label you can see certain ingredients require using their logos on the label to represent that ingredient along with other disclaimers. These sections do need to remain on the labels.
- GREEN: This section is completely optional but if left, it needs to be an accurate representation of the total MG per serving.
- ORANGE: Our manufacturer recommends this section due to past issues with specific state regulations, although it's not mandated by the FDA and remains optional.
Resources for Product Renderings
Many of our clients want to have photos of their product on their site, but often a 3D render is a better option. 3D renders have better resolution, increased legibility when the picture is enlarged, and does not require actual labeled product to create. Most graphic designers (including our own) can create these 3D renders by imposing your custom-made label onto a 3D image of the bottle.
If your designer is going to create these, you will need to know which products come in which bottles. You can use this spreadsheet here for those specs: ODF Product Spec Sheet
Then depending on which bottle image you need, they can be downloaded from this folder:
Bottle ImagesTwo additional and helpful resources:
- Pre-Approved Claims – This is a spreadsheet with Claims that have been Pre Approved to be used on our supplements. This helps save time when trying to think of claims.
- Certifications – This is a spreadsheet showing the different certifications that are allowed on each product.
Please let us know if you have any other questions. If not, we'll await your designed labels to be sent in for proofing.
Barcode Creation
Here are the key instructions to follow:
Select the Code 128 barcode style.
Check the box “Display human-readable” so that the SKU number is below the barcode.
Download as PNG or SVG to ensure resolution remains high enough to be scanned.
Bottom item of left display panel.
Approx 1.5" wide x .25" tall like this example below.
.25” tall is the MINIMUM allowed.
This sizing also fits well
Maintain a bottom clear space of at least 0.625" between bottom of barcode and label bottom.
Barcode will look like this when downloaded:
Please note barcodes do not to be this large on your label
Here is an example of what it should look like on the template following the guidelines above:
Attached are the 3D renders of our blank bottles. These are so that your designer can create a 3D render of your label on the bottles. The attached excel sheet also gives a breakdown of all our products, the bottle size and color, along with the label size. Be aware that these bottle colors on the spreadsheet are not interchangeable and will always remain the same until further notice.
Label Proofing
One important requirement for submitted labels is the exact file naming format to ensure accurate filing, use, and printing for all our clients.
Please refer to the formatting guidelines below:
- Product Name (This is the name of the product in the ODF catalog)
- Product SKU (This is the unique number assigned to each of your products)
- Version Number (This is found in the lower left of each label template)
- Client Product Name (Only needed if you are renaming the product)
In the example below, please ensure the Product Name is listed first, as it appears in our catalog. Next, include the Product SKU we provided. Following that, include the Version Number located in the lower left corner of each label template. This ensures you are using the latest file and allows us to quickly identify any discrepancies. Finally, include the Client Product Name if you are renaming it; otherwise, no further action is necessary.
File Name W/ Client Product Name:
Oxy Burn 1234-123 V3R0 Extreme Fat Burner
DO NOT use dashes or underscores as spaces in your file names, except for your Product SKU. Unaccepted formatting is provided below. ⬇️
